It seems Sony has run into another stock problem. Again. However this time it's not all that bad because instead of it being a real lack of stock, Sony are stopping pre-orders so that they have a decent amount of consoles available for customers who may want to buy it in-store or online after launch day.

Sony wants to be able to keep stock available throughout the holiday season and they believe that holding back stock now will help them to ensure that there are PS4's on the shelves every day.

"We want to make sure people can buy a PS4 on November 15 and through the holidays," SCE America's Jack Tretton said. "So, we're holding back some inventory to make sure people will be able to buy one.

"We can pre-sell every unit we can manufacture, and the good news is that production yields have been phenomenal. We're going to work very hard to make sure that every consumer that wants one gets one."

Hopefully this won't make much a difference to most gamers- it's likely those serious about getting a PS4 on launch day already have one pre-ordered, and those that don't now have a guaranteed chance of picking one up in store when they are ready to.

This plan has only been talked about in North America, and currently there isn't any information as to whether the same deal will happen in other regions.
