Crash BandicootDespite being a very popular franchise for the original two PlayStation consoles, Sony has failed to mention anything about the future of Crash Bandicoot for a very long time. No news of development on new Crash Bandicoot games has been revealed by Sony, and many fans have presumed that the franchise is now dead.

Whatever the truth may be, we don't know - all we can do is speculate. One rumor is that Crash Bandicoot has some trademark problems, and Sony doesn't actually own all of the rights to the game, which basically means they cannot get away with releasing a new Crash Bandicoot, even if they wanted to.

Others suggest that development for Crash Bandicoot has simply been dropped by Sony following the last few games that did not sell very well on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

Either way, Sony has recently posted an image on their Twitter that pays homage to the franchise, and many gamers have jumped to the conclusion that Sony might just be planning a Crash Bandicoot comeback, and the Tweet, which is the first time Sony has publically mentioned Crash in a long time, is a small teaser for what is to come.

Whether that is true or not, I cannot say, but I'm sure many PS4 owners out there would be incredibly excited to get their hands on a new Crash Bandicoot game. However, with the large amount of PlayStation exclusives currently lined up for release, it may be a while before a new Crash Bandicoot pops up on Sony's radar.
