watch dogs sequel 2017

You didn't really think Ubisoft would create an entirely new IP and never touch it again did you? Well, if you did, I have some news for you. It's been confirmed that a brand new Watch Dogs game is in the works and if all goes to plan, it should hit shelves at some point in 2017.

In Ubisoft's recent financial calling, a number of details were revealed, but the highlight of the show was definitely the announcement of Watch Dogs 2 to their investors. To top it off, Ubisoft also have plans for a brand new AAA IP, however this has yet to be revealed.

The new Watch Dogs 2 has been scheduled to launch before Ubisoft's next financial year ends, which will mean the new game will hit before April 30, 2017. Two other games, For Honor and Ghost Recon: WildLands, are expected to launch before the above date too and to top it off, Ubisoft have a re-imagined Assassin's Creed planned for this financial year.

We aren't sure what's more exciting. A new Watch Dogs title could potentially be massive if Ubisoft take their original concept and take it even further, but a re-imagined Assassin's Creed could take that franchise into new waters. Finally, a brand new AAA IP is perhaps the most interesting news yet. We have no idea what the new IP could be, but Ubisoft did mention that the new IP could be a "high-potential AAA brand with strong digital live services."
