While Marvel movies may be ahead of DC and other comic franchises, it did not have the best track record when it came to video game adaptations. Batman games were all the rage for the longest time, but all of that changed after the release of Spiderman in 2018. This game brought a new flavor in the super hero video game genre and received rave reviews from critics as well as audiences. After the success of this game, Marvel collaborated with Sony Studios once again and came up with Spider Man: Miles Morales in 2020.

While this was not a direct sequel to 2018’s Spider Man game, it did share the same universe and even had appearances from Spider Man and his villains. This game also received fantastic reviews across the globe and sold millions of copies. With the success of the first two Spider Man games, people were hoping there would be another one. Fortunately, Sony did not disappoint and confirmed that Spider Man 2.

What we know So far

Sony announced Spider Man 2 through a trailer during the Playstation showcase in 2021. The trailer featured Spider Man, Miles Morales, Morbius and fan favorite Venom. Many people were under the impression that the game would be released in 2022, but that does not seem to be the case. This is because Spider Man 2 is still in the development phase and it may take a year or two to release.

Only for PS5?

Spider-Man 1 and Miles Morales can be played on the Playstation 4. However, you will need to invest in a PS5 to play Spider Man 2 as the game will come with massive graphical upgrades, loads of quality of life features and much more. That said, things could change down the line as plenty of games that were supposed to be PS5 only, later one released PS4 versions as well. This is mainly because there has been a massive shortage of next gen consoles across the globe, causing vendors to increase PS5 prices significantly.

Could we see the Green Goblin

While the first two Spider Man games featured numerous, well known Spider Man villains, there was one notable absence that was hard to ignore. Fans were expecting the Green Goblin to be Spider Man 1s big baddie. However, that was not the case despite Norman Osborn being a critical part of the story. This has caused people to speculate that the Green Goblin could show up in Spider Man 2.

Plus, with Norman Osborn now having access to Oscorp, there is a higher likelihood of the green goblin showing up in the latest game.

You Will Play as 2 Characters

The game’s trailer suggests that Peter Parker and Mile’s Morales will be the main protagonists, which means that you will most likely be playing as both. Many have compared this to Arkham City, where players get to control Batman as well as Catwoman. Needless to say, the possibility of playing as 2 Spidermen has fans brimming with anticipation.
