Over the past few years, the Call of Duty franchise has made plenty of changes thanks to a big transition towards future based combat. Unfortunately for Activision, it hasn't exactly been received that well.
The Call of Duty franchise has been one of the biggest and most successful first person shooter series of all time, but it was clear after Infinite Warfare that the fan appeal had started to wither away.
Due partly to the poor performance of Infinite Warfare and arguably partly due to the success of Battlefield 1, the Call of Duty title planned for this year has been confirmed to be going back to the series roots.
The information comes straight from Activision as they have looked back at and shared their successes and failures in 2016. Whilst Activision has now confirmed that the upcoming Call of Duty game will take inspiration from previous games, nothing was said about how far back the publisher would be going.
It was confirmed that the next Call of Duty

The movie studio behind hits like The Hunger Games, Power Rangers, and the Expendables has announced its recent investment in esports team, The Immortals.
It seems as if we're seeing investments from all over the place when it comes to eSports, and now Lionsgate has got in on the action. Interestingly, The Immortals has already seen financial support from other popular names including Michael Milken and Steve Kaplan.
Lionsgate didn't share too many details on what their investment would involve or what they would hope to receive from their partnership, but it's clear that they see the expectation in the eSports industry to follow the footsteps of other popular sports industries, such as the NBA and NFL.
This isn't the first time Lionsgate has gotten involved with video games. In fact, they have an entirely separate wing dedicated to interactive experiences and video games.
Lionsgate President of Interactive Ventures and Games mentioned, "We're delighted to be

Twitch might have a near-monopoly on the video game streaming industry, but other competitors are still fighting hard to get a grip on it.
One of the longest running competitors for video game streaming is Hitbox - it's a service that offers a similar service to Twitch, and also has a larger focus on streaming esports. In recent news, Azubu has just acquired Hitbox for a sum of "tens of millions of dollars."
While operation at Hitbox is still going on as normal, this acquisition could mean big things for the platform and even bigger things for the video game streaming industry as a whole. To begin with, Azubu is certainly interested in putting more focus on the esports side of things. The majority of streams on Twitch are non-esports related, so Hitbox and Azubu have a potential void to fill.
Interestingly, Azubu is another streaming platform that hasn't managed to gain the attention it's hoped for. Previous talks suggested that Azubu was close to shutting down due

After going full-time Smash pro, the worst thing that could happen to a Smash player would be to have their finger or hand broken.
Unfortunately for Hungrybox, exactly that has happened. During a game of Dodgeball, Hungrybox ended up breaking his index finger, which might just be one of the most important fingers for playing games on a controller.
The injury was a fracture in the top knuckle of Hungrybox's index finger. With Genesis 4 just around the corner, it was first rumored that Hungrybox would not attend the event at all.
However, Hungrybox is going to soldier on - he will remap his controller so that use of his index finger is kept to an absolute minimum. As a result of this, Hungrybox may not be at top form, but we still feel he has a good chance at ranking high at Genesis 4.
It's frustrating to see such a thing happen, but we can't wait to see how Hungrybox performs despite his injury. Fortunately, the injury should heal within a few weeks, so he won't

We've got big news for any Mass Effect Andromeda fans out there.
It's been confirmed that a gameplay showing for Mass Effect Andromeda will take place on January 4 at NVIDIA's CES Keynote. We're not sure what sort of gameplay will be showcased, although a small description alongside the announcement mentioned that the game environments and some gameplay will be shown.
By this logic, it may make sense that we'll be getting a look at the scale of the universe in Mass Effect Andromeda and a close look at the environments on each world. Whilst this is mostly speculation, it would also make sense considering that the event is being hosted by NVIDIA. It may also be possible that NVIDIA will be announcing some of their own new products at the CES Keynote, especially in regards to PC gaming.
While the Mass Effect Andromeda gameplay shown at the CES event may be broadcasted from a PC, it'll still be a great look at what the game will have to offer on other platforms as well.

Microsoft just announced their latest controller changes. They are introducing a brand new controller design that includes paddles, remappable buttons, swappable components, and trigger locks. All of these new enhancements are scheduled for release this Fall. Microsoft is gearing its new design towards the "elite gamers" and tournament level players. The paddles and remappable buttons should impact the competitive gaming scene dramatically.
It is unknown at the time if Sony will return with their own new controller design but we speculate that they will have to answer to Microsoft's controller. Sony already has remappable buttons but will they also add the paddles and trigger stops? We will have to wait and see how they decide to answer. If they want to stay ahead they will have to keep the competitive gamer in mind.
The new Xbox One controller design has the hardcore gamer in mind and will definitely be a hit. The price hasn't been discussed yet but with all the additional

The release date for Etrian Mystery Dungeon has been confirmed by NIS America to be September 11 for Europe. The North American release is still not known but it will be dealt with a separate publisher, Atlas U.S.A.
Etrian Mystery Dungeon will be released as both a physical and digital Nintendo 3DS title once it launches. Unfortunately NIS America hasn't mentioned the install size, but it shouldn't be too large.
Etrian Mystery Dungeon will be an RPG title with turn based combat that incorporates some unique gameplay features. Choosing the right abilities and skills will be important as you'd expect, but the strategic positioning of your party also plays a large part in your success.
From what we've seen so far, this new combat system looks like it could be incredibly engaging, and I personally can't wait to see how it plays out in real time. Mystery Dungeon will have a number of different classes that Etrian Odyssey fans may be familiar with. Classes such as Landsknecht

Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2 will also be published by Atlas Inc. in North America following the European release.
Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2 features turn based combat and an interesting storyline to keep players captivated. In Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor, the world of Record Breaker is on the brink of destruction - An apocalypse has begun.
Before the apocalypse, a group of thrill-seekers registered to a website that claimed to deliver fake videos of their friends being killed. These videos had some kind of other meaning behind them though, and as people tried to understand the true meaning of the videos, an alien invasion forced humanity to struggle to survive.

It's been confirmed that an expansion for Bloodborne will definitely be coming in the future and From Software are already going over ideas for new content. Unlike many other games these days, Bloodborne did not come with a season pass from day one so players have been curious about the developer's DLC plans.
Whilst there weren't any definite plans for future content in the past, Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed on Twitter that an upcoming expansion will be coming for Bloodborne. Unfortunately not many details have been shared so far, but Yoshida has mentioned that more information will be shared later this year.
Considering that Shuhei Yoshida is Sony Computer Entertainment's World Wide Studio's president it's pretty clear that this information can be trusted and a Bloodborne expansion is definitely coming.
It's definitely a smart move by both Sony and From Software to plan more content for Bloodborne. Even though Bloodborne is a PlayStation 4 exclusive, it has managed
