WNBA player Candace Parker made history this week by being selected by 2K Sports as the first female cover athlete for the NBA 2K series of games.

Parker will be featured on the Gamestop-exclusive version of NBA 2K22 when it releases on September 10^th. The custom cover is meant to commemorate the 25^th anniversary of the WNBA, the first women’s professional basketball league to launch in the United States.

In a tweet, Parker commented on her achievement, writing: "Extremely proud and humbled to be the first female cover athlete in the history of @NBA2K. I’m honored to work with a company that’s investing in women and betting on us to succeed. I’m hoping there will be many more badass females to follow.”

There will be multiple covers of the game releases, with Luka Doncic, Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Rui Hachimura all getting covers as well.

A week ago news website PlayStation Lifestyle reported that there was a company named Simulmedia that was looking to implement mobile-style advertisements into console games. In that report, the company claimed that EA signed a deal to work those ads in. This week, EA denied those reports and said that they’re not currently looking at those style ads in games.

The rebuttal came after the story gained traction, with EA saying that they haven’t signed any type of agreement with Simulmedia and that they’re not going to be putting paid ads into games in the way

At this point, Simulmedia has not issued a comment on why they said that they’re working with EA. The company also said that they’re working with Hi-Rez Studios, who’s known for putting out the games Smite and Paladins.

Last week we predicted that Call of Duty’s Battle Royale mode would launch soon, and we weren’t disappointed. Activision launched Call of Duty: Warzone on March 10th, and thus far it’s been an awesome experience.

The game features 150 player Battle Royale, where players are dropped into a large map that sees players duking it out for one man to come out on top. Surprisingly, Warzone is a free to play endeavor, meaning that you don’t have to purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in order to get your gameplay on.

Warzone was developed by Infinity Ward, and it manages to keep pace with the big boys in the serious Battle Royale shooter genre like PUBG and Apex Legends. The game features a revive mode, which lets you battle another player for a chance to be revived in the game. This novel concept adds a lot of depth to the game, making it stand out from the competition.

It looks like Sony is finally catching up to us at Evil Controllers, as the company is launching a new adapter for their DualShock 4 controller that gives the device rear paddles.

The new device is called the Back Button Attachment and will feature a puck style device that plugs into the underside of the DualShock 4, putting backpedals on the back. The puck will have an OLED screen attached to it, which will allow users to program what button they want to attach to the paddles. This will give players the chance to have faster response times for firing, accelerating, or performing any type of action they want in-games.

The device appears to be an option for those that want to add some functionality to the DS4 without taking the big leap into controller mods. The company is widely expected to reveal new hardware this Sunday, with a design, specs, and price point all likely to be shared. Players are anticipating the next generation of console hardware, as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 both launched back in 2014, and customers want the top of the line hardware.

Microsoft has begun diversifying to offer their brand as a service, as their upcoming xCloud project will allow for game streaming. They’re expected to have multiple consoles for the next generation: one that’s powerful and capable of providing 4K gaming, and one that’s not as powerful but will leverage the xCloud to play games. Game developer Square Enix has finally shown another snippet of their most hotly anticipated game. That’s right, the Final Fantasy VII Remake Trailer was finally shown off again for the first time in three years.

Square Enix showed a teaser trailer for the game at the PlayStation State of Play event, which shows off new game announcements for the platform. The teaser is brief at just over a minute long, but it does show some gameplay as well as bits of the iconic story. Cloud, Aerith (Aeris), Barret, Jessie, and Sephiroth all make appearances.

The game was first shown at E3 2015, but has reportedly been in development hell as Square Enix brought development in-house after CyberConnect2 botched it. The result has been a delayed game that’s had to be re-designed from scratch.

For their part, Square Enix isn’t giving away too much here. They’re promising more information next month at E3, but it's unknown whether or not they’re going to be giving us a release date. FF7

The new loot includes a brand new glider, a new pickaxe, and a new trail. Admittedly, the glider is quite simple, but it's a nice thank you to the PlayStation players, regardless.
