Assassin's Creed 3 DLC

Downloadable content has become a huge thing over the past few years and now pretty much every game is expected to have some form of DLC within a few months of its release. Many games actually have DLC available on the day of the games' release! Like most gamers, I am not too happy with this considering the fact that the devs could have just added that content to the game itself.

Well there is no way of avoiding it now as DLC is just as lucrative as the actual game (if not more) these days and why wouldn't publisher want to take advantage of their game's release. This time around Ubisoft knows that we are dying to get our hands on Assassin's Creed 3 and thus they have taken the whole DLC scenario one step further.

Ubisoft has recently sent a letter to Gamestop explaining their future plan with Assassin's Creed 3. I quote "We are currently in the process of creating a complementary development team that will begin working on post-launch episodic content to continue the Game of the Year experience that Assassin's Creed 3 will undoubtedly deliver. With a dedicated team specifically to this content [sic] we plan to set the bar for quality DLC in our industry."

It also said, "We know you're familiar with the 'Season Pass' concept and, beginning shortly, we'll start to take pre-orders of our very own. We'd love your continued assistance in informing pre-order customers that a better value is available for those who pre-order Assassin's Creed with the 'Season Pass'."

As you can see it is pretty much clear cut that we will be seeing a LOT of DLC for Assassin's Creed 3. The DLC will also be expected to be pretty amazing considering the fact that they will have a separate team in charge of development.

Well I am both excited and a bit worried; worried because I won't be done at just buying the game and excited because a continuous line up of awesome DLC will keep the game alive for a long time to come.

Nothing other than the fact that Ubisoft plans on creating high quality DLC has been mentioned. There is also no indication of what kind of DLCs are to be expected or whether it would be multiplayer or single player related. I guess we are all expecting a bit of both. For now only one thing is certain, if you are planning on getting ALL DLC then you should seriously consider the "Season Pass".

Assassin's Creed is set to be released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on the 30th of October 2012 in the US and on the 31st of October in Europe. Ubisoft has also mentioned a version of the game for the Wii U although no specific release date has been mentioned.
