More ComicCon - GOW News: Casual Mode is in Gears of War 3

Announced at ComicCon, multiplayer mode in Gears of War 3 will feature a casual mode that which help new players get into the full chaos of the lancers and gunfire. A feature of the new mode will be aim assist which could be a troublesome pain for most experienced Gears of War players. You can read more about casual mode here.

The casual mode for Gears will be only for those who never played a Gears of War game before. According to IGN, you be denied access to casual mode if you unlocked any achievements from any of the previous Gears of War games or partook in the GOW3 beta.

Epic isn't revealing all the details of casual mode, just the aim assist function. But with the release of Gears of War 3 coming closer and closer, more details of this mode and other modes will be coming down the pipeline relatively soon.

A couple of sites I have searched around about this news all had the same opinion. They feel like its an unfair advantage for new people have over the experienced gamers. All reviews and opinions were mostly negative and hope this won't unbalance the game unlike OTHER games that have casual mode (*coughcough-MVC3-coughcough*). One site did theorize that perhaps the casual players will be separated from the experience players. That could balance the difficulty of online play. Another theory is that game might disable casual mode as soon as ten matches.

All in all, Epic Games better keep an eye on the details of game balance. Especially with this new mode in the game.
