Could God of War Ragnarok Face another Delay

The God of War video game franchise has been going strong for almost 2 decades and it doesn’t show any sign of slowing down. This game went through a major overhaul in 2018 where Santa Monica studio change the look of the entire game, made massive graphical upgrades, and introduced loads of new weaponry and enemies. Some would even say that the 2018 version of God of War is a soft reboot that acknowledges the events of previous games but focuses more on an entirely different story.

The game came out to great critical acclaim, leaving fans wanting for more. Well, their wish was granted as Sony and Santa Monica Studios announced the arrival of God of War Ragnarok.

What We Know About God of War Ragnarok So far

When the game was initially announced, many people were under the impression that this God of War sequel would be released for the PS5. As time passed, however, Sony studios announced that this game would be available on the PS4 as well. Many gaming enthusiasts speculated that this could potentially postpone the game’s release.

Like God of War Ragnarok, many other games that were initially being made for the PS5 later became available for PS4 as well. However, these versions had a fair share of issues like glitches, poor graphics, lags, etc. Studios are now being more careful when porting their games for older consoles, ensuring they work properly, which is resulting in delays.

If you have been following any news related to God of War Ragnarock, you will know that the game has been riddled with delays. Of course, this has fans of the game incredibly frustrated as they want to take on Kratos and Atreus’ new journey.

Could there be Another Delay?

While the game is set to release in the summer of 2022, many people have been pessimistic due to the previous last moment delays. Ever since the release of Cyber Punk, which came out to a barrage of negative reviews, studios have been quite cautious when developing their games and it could be the case with Santa Monica Studios. God of War is arguably the studio’s biggest revenue-generating IP, so it makes sense for them to take their time releasing it.

There have also been rumblings that the game could come out in 2023 instead of 2022, which is sure to upset a lot of fans. Since there has been a massive shortage of next-gen consoles, Santa Monica Studios might simply be waiting for more people to get the PS5. This is because the next-gen version of God of War has features like haptic feedback, shorter load times, and improved graphics, something that you will not find in the PS4 version.

With that said, the rumors about the game releasing in 2023 may not be true and it could very well release in June or July. The best we can do is keep our fingers crossed and hope the game releases soon and exceeds expectations.
