cyberpunk 2077

German website Gamereactor.de recently revealed a rumor that suggested Cyberpunk 2077 may get released in 2016. According to a "source close to the company," CD Projekt Red is currently planning to release their next big RPG title before the end of 2016.

It's assumed that currently Cyberpunk 2077 is only being developed for PC but we'd be surprised if CD Projekt Red doesn't also release console versions of the game, especially considering how successful The Witcher 3 was on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Whilst it would be great to see Cyberpunk 2077 before the end of 2017 I think it's important to remember that CD Projekt Red have considered the game to be the biggest and most ambitious project from the development studio so far. We also know very little about the supposed source of this rumor.

Chances are, CD Projekt Red could be aiming for a late 2016 release for Cyberpunk 2077 but whether they hit their target or not will depend on how smoothly development goes. For the most part, there's no way of knowing what bumps in the road occur during development, especially for such an ambitious title. As a result, we wouldn't dismiss the rumor that CD Projekt Red is planning to release Cyberpunk 2077 in late 2016 but any sort of delays could push the release into 2017, which is the publically mentioned release date for the game. It's unlikely CD Projekt Red will comment on these rumors so for now we can only speculate.
