A French site linked to the leak of Gears of War 3.

It's months before the release of Gears of War 3, but unfortunately some people are impatient for Epic's game. This incident thatoccurred not too long ago has made such a security breach that law enforcement had to be called in. Thankfully that won't be necessary anymore.

A French developer in charge of a site that is hosts a large amount of Xbox 360 promotional material for Australia was also recently hosting a near-completed version of Gears of War 3.

Now while it is common for game builds to be hosted so press and PR people can try out the game before the general public, this situation was different. There was no security at all. And when I mean no security at all, I mean no logins, passwords, or anything! So there was no need to hack or steal login information. Just find the URL and download the files. Thankfully for Epic Games and Microsoft, that site has been locked down. So GOW3's build is safe for now.

The Australian hosting site belongs to a company named Codify, which has in the past worked with Microsoft when it came to advertising Microsoft and Xbox in that region of the world. Xbox Australia has been contacted by press for comment and will replying as soon as they can.

In this Ambassador's opinion, it was an honest mistake....that would have cost a lot of money to Microsoft and Epic Games.
