While waiting in line for Gears of War 3, why not occupy yourself with some non-electronic GOW entertainment?

Like every single big hit game out there (Halo: Reach, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, Hello Kitty: Island Adventure) there's always a midnight release. Most people (like yours truly) like to line up about two to three hours before the game's release (some people go to extreme and camp out a day ahead) just so they can have first dibs on obtaining their wanted pieces of electronic entertainment.

Now during that time, you're trying to occupy your mind and body with something before those doors open and you fork over your cash for some video game enjoyment. Usually you'd play on your handheld gaming devices like PSPs and 3Ds's and/or maybe you text your friends and update your Facebook on your mobile phone. However, those things run on batteries and overuse can quickly drain the device's battery life. What do you do?

Well in the case of the upcoming Gears of War 3 and its midnight release, you can read one of the many Gears of War books available now at your local bookstores. All of them staying true to the story, thus meaning the content in these books are canon. If you're not in the mood to read a book, there's always the Gears of War board game we mentioned a while back. While there are no need for electricity to run the game, you will need some lucky throws if you want to deal heavy lancer damage to your opponents.

So while you wait for your copy of GOW3 to land into your hands and then land into your Xbox 360, there's ways to have some Gears fun while waiting in line with other gaming enthusiasts.
