Gears and Metal Gear at VGAs

Although there has been little information regarding new game releases at the VGAs, there were a few announcements, including some new trailers and information on Gears of War Judgement, and a possible new Metal Gear Solid game.

The new Gears of War judgement trailer showed at VGA doesn't really give us any further insight into the story that takes place before Gears of War 1, but instead shows us some fast-paced action scenes that we have expected from previous GoW games.

If you're a fan of the Gears of War series then Judgment won't disappoint you, but to those without any experience playing any Gears of War titles, the new Judgment probably won't look that different to any of the other games, and I have a feeling the new game will struggle to bring in many players new to the franchise.

What's also interesting to note is that Judgment has been developed by People Can Fly, the developers behind Bulletstorm instead of the well renowned Epic Games, so as for now it's hard to tell how Judgment will turn out.

In other news, a lot of speculation has come out of a new trailer for a mysteriously named Phantom Pain which has been announced at the VGAs by a currently unknown developer. A lot of Metal Gear Solid fans have picked up on the similarities within the trailer to elements within the Metal Gear Solid games, and some have gone so far as to say that Joakim Mogren, CEO of the new developer studio that are creating Phantom Pain, is in fact a cleverly placed anagram for none other than Kojima, the man behind the MGS series.

It could well be true that the new Phantom Pain game is in fact Metal Gear Solid 5 as some fans have suggested, and thanks to the power of the internet this news has spread far and wide.

Although if it doesn't turn out to be MGS 5, a lot of us are going to look rather stupid.
