New Mass Effect Game

There has been a lot of talk about a Mass Effect game past Mass Effect 3, and although it has recently been confirmed, what the game will consist of is currently unknown. According to what we know so far, the next game will take place in the Mass Effect universe, however the game won't be similar to the previous trilogy in any way.

That means no Shepard, possibly no Reapers, and most likely no squad based third person combat. Chris Priestly, community coordinate for Bioware says that calling the next game Mass Effect 4 would be a disservice to the previous trilogy, and that Commander Shepard's story is definitely over.

"Thinking of the next Mass Effect game as Mass Effect 4 would imply a certain linearity, a straight evolution of the gameplay and story of the first three games."

"That doesn't mean that events of the first three games and the choices you made won't get recognized, but they likely won't be what this new story will focus on, The Mass Effect universe is so rich that we are not limited to a single track when coming up with a new story."

It'll be interesting to see what Bioware do next with their huge universe, and even if the game completely moves away from the game mechanics in the current game, I believe Bioware can do a great job with any game genre based in the Mass Effect world.
