Nintendo 3DS price drops from $249 to $170.

When 3DS sales began to drop only a small bit of time after its release, Nintendo acted quick torebootthe public into purchasing its handheld system. Currently the 3DS is selling at nearly $250 but come August 12th, it will be slashed down to $169.99.

Commenting on this price slashing, Reggie Fils-Aime of Nintendo of America stated:

"For anyone who was on the fence about buying a Nintendo 3DS, this is a huge motivation to buy now...we are giving shoppers every incentive to pick up a Nintendo 3DS, from an amazing new price to a rapid-fire succession of great games."

But those who bought the portable gaming console early won't be left in the dust, as those early purchasers will be able to download 20 free games from the 3DS eShop. These games include ten NES Virtual console games like Zelda and Super Mario Bros and Game Boy Advance games like Metroid Fusion

Already in Japan the 3DS was slashed from¥25,000 to ¥15,000 though places like Europe, have had to price slash revealed yet. Australia revealed a price slash asthe 3DS will be taken from AUD$350 to AUD$250 (with the same twenty-game offer for previous owners).

So if you're in the market for a new portable game console or need to upgrade your DS, wait until August 12 and get yourself a deal.
