Biggest Game Disappointments of 2019

2019 was host to some spectacular games, as we got the likes of Luigi’s Mansion 3, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and more. The gaming industry as a whole is very healthy, but that doesn’t mean that we haven’t gotten some real turds this year, either. In the spirit of making an end of the year lists, I went and compiled some of what I feel are the biggest game disappointments of 2019.

Without further ado, here’s what I think stunk up the joint:

Anthem- I had such high hopes for Anthem. I’m a huge Bioware fan, and this game looked amazing. When it launched, Anthem was like getting a kick square to the junk. It’s cool, but the missions are so repetitive. The looting is dumb. This game is that first-round draft pick you’re expecting to be a franchise QB, but ends up throwing more picks than TDs in their second year (I’m looking at you, Baker).

WWE 2K20- If there’s one word I could come up with to define this game, it has to be: woof. WWE games are generally very good, and the production quality is a large part of that. This year, it seems like that all went out the window. The game was developed by Visual Concepts and the glitches make the gameplay horrible, but the clips hilarious. Seriously, search for WWE 2K20 clips on YouTube and see what you find. It’s funnier than Carrot Top with a bag of props.

Overwatch (Switch Version)- Overwatch is one of my favorite games of all-time. I’ve seriously spent more time within its virtual walls than my brother-in-law has ever spent with his kids (voluntarily). The Switch port is just crap, though. Players disappear on the screen, even though they’re there. The game runs like crud, and it just doesn’t live up to the hype. This could have been great, as I could play Overwatch on an overseas flight, but unfortunately, it’s just a huge disappointment (also like my brother-in-law).

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint- I’m a huge fan of basically any Tom Clancy game, but man this game sucks. The game is like a ground-based Anthem, with dull missions and stupid loot ruining what could have been an awesome experience. I don’t recommend it to anyone, even if you see it for $10 on Amazon.
