Gran Turismo 6 PS3

It's been believed for quite some time now that Gran Turismo 6 will be released for the PlayStation 4, however it may be a lot less likely than what we have come to think. In a recent interview with Silicon Republic, Michael Denny, senior vice-president of Sony WWS let slip what may have been a confirmation point for us on the release console for Gran Turismo 6.

"Look at the games coming out on the PlayStation 3 like The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, GT6, and then on the third-party side of things another fantastic Assassin's Creed, GTA." At first this may be a strange move, but if you look back to the previous generation of consoles, both the Xbox and the PlayStation 2 kept supporting new games for a few years before being discontinued, so it may happen again with the current generation of consoles, and we may see some amazing games on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 because of it.

This may be a big disappointment to those hoping to see the new Gran Turismo being played with brand new hardware, as the PlayStation 3 struggled with the previous title. It could be possible that the game would be accepted cross-platform, having a release for both the PS3 and the PS4, but this seems like a strange move as it would fragment the player base a little, especially if one version offered different graphics and engine capabilities than the other.

It could be possible Micheal Denny made a simple mistake with Gran Turismo 6, but I have a feeling he did mean to say it, and he already knew that GT6 would be coming to the PS3.

The current release date for Gran Turismo 6 is not known yet, but we all hope to hear more information on the title very soon. While you wait, take a look at our modded ps3 controllers in our Controller Creator!
