Xbox 720 Dev Kits Leaked

There seems to be no end in sight for rumors surrounding the next-gen Xbox. Just a few days back a person calling himself DaE leaked several pictures of the "supposed" development kit for the next-gen Xbox.

The pictures first appeared on a forum for game developers where DaE attempted to sell the alleged development kit for $10,000. As expected no one actually paid any heed to this and labeled the whole event as another rumor and just another trying to create another hoax.

In an interesting turn of events Digital Foundry, a gaming tech site, has confirmed that these pictures are actually real. Digital Foundry has met with several developers working on next-gen projects and as such can confirm that this is actually our first look into the hardware being utilized to make games for the next-gen Xbox.

The development kit looks quite like a standard gaming PC and has been described as "an anonymous-looking black box". The startup dashboard also has shows the word DURANGO which has been rumored to be the codename for the next-gen Xbox for a while.

Right beneath "Durango" there are two options on the main dashboard - D3D11Game1 and NuiView. According to Digital Foundry NuiView this is "a simple tool for rendering camera views and data from an attached Kinect Peripheral."

According to DaE, the latest developmental kits were distributed in February which was made up of Intel CPUs, an NVIDIA graphics card, 8 GB of RAM and a 64 bit operating system. Although these specs have not been confirmed, the last rumor about the Xbox 720 was that it would be six times more powerful than current consoles.

Microsoft has still not provided any details about the next-gen Xbox so I guess there is no way of verifying any of the information. But considering the increase in job listings for work on next-gen consoles we can definitely expect more official news in the months to come.

When the next console is released you can expect Evil Controllers to be there to keep making the modded controllers that you've come to love. The cosmetics, the mods and the Evil Pro-Series Add-ons.
