It's going to be a big year for the Super Smash Bros. competitive community. Dreamhack has 6 events planned for this year alone.
If you're a viewer or player of any of the Super Smash Bros. games then you've got a lot to be excited about this year. Dreamhack has just confirmed that a total of 6 events will feature Super Smash Bros. tournaments this year. 4 of these events will be in North America and the other 2 will be on an international level.
The first Dreamhack event will be Dreamhack Austin. It will take place from April 28 to April 30 and will feature both Melee and Smash 4. The prize pool will be $10,000 for each game.
The next event will be Dreamhack Summer, featuring just Smash Bros Melee and will take place from June 17 to June 19.
Following this will be Dreamhack Atlanta from July 21 to July 23, Dreamhack Montreal on September 8 to September 10, and Dreamhack Denver from October 20 to October 22. All three of these events will feature both Melee and

The game lineup for the next major fighting game event has been revealed.
CEO 2017 has now published information about what games they will be hosting tournaments for, along with other important details on event dates and attendance.
There's no doubt that CEO is one of the tournaments the fighting game community loves the most, so if you're interested in some epic matches to tune into, or are interested in attending the event yourself, pay close attention to the information provided below.
It's now been confirmed that CEO 2017 will have a total of 11 different fighting games. First things first, both Smash Bros Melee and Smash Bros Wii U will be making an appearance. Street Fighter V and Tekken 7 will of course be making a show. Unfortunately Mortal Kombat XL will not be on the agenda for CEO 2017, but there are a number of other games that will take it's place.
This includes both Injustice 2 and Killer Instinct as well as the following: The King of Fighters

Looking for information on Call of Duty esports? This is where it all starts.
We haven't heard much in the way of Call of Duty esports news so far this year. Fortunately, an announcement has now been made for the beginning of the CWL Global Pro League in 2017. It has recently been confirmed that stage 1 of the pro league will start on April 20.
The CWL Global Pro League is a weekly LAN league for Call of Duty that will see teams from all over the world battle it out in their local arenas. Just before stage 1, an open event will take place on March 17 until March 19. This will be the CWL Dallas Open and will be the most important event this year for teams to earn the chance to gain points to qualify for the GPL.
"The CWL Dallas Open is the final event where teams and their rosters can earn CWL Pro Points for a chance to qualify to Stage 1 of the CWL Global Pro League, beginning April 20."
"The CWL Global Pro League, taking place live at the MLG Arena in Columbus,

The first official Capcom Pro Tour event for 2017 has been announced.
The upcoming event is Final Round 20 and it will be the first event of this year to be included in Capcom Pro Tour rankings. Final Round has been a part of the Capcom Pro Tour in the past, and Fight Round 20 will be the third year running. It's not yet been confirmed whether Final Round 20 will be a Ranking or a Premier event, but some other details have been confirmed.
After last year's miscommunication from Fight Round 20, the bracket system will work. For example, last year Fight Round held a Premier event for the 2016 Capcom Pro Tour, but because of the lack of access to online brackets, it was very hard for players to figure out exactly who had made it out of the original stages and into the Top 128.
This year, the pools will be played out over two days instead of one, and the Smash.gg platform will be used to track matches and provide accessible online brackets for anybody to view.

BeyondTheSummit has released the key dates and details for the upcoming Smash Summit 4.
It has now been confirmed that the event will take place from March 2 and will end on March 5. To begin with, the prize pool is sitting at $15,000, but it will grow depending on how many fans attend the events.
Even with a $15,000 base prize pool, this will be an important event to take the win, and it could perhaps be the event that could be open to absolutely anybody.
Whilst both Hungrybox and Armada are still performing incredibly, Hungrybox's recent broken finger has put some doubt on his upcoming performance. Armada is still looking like a strong contender, but his most recent Smash Summit win was at Smash Summit 3 doubles, at which point he had help from the formidable Mew2King. Mang0 has also been in great form this year, even if he hasn't managed to hit as many first place wins as Hungrybox and Armada.
In total, there will be sixteen players to attend the Smash Summit

Suddenly the trophy at the Overwatch NGE Winter Premiere is up for grabs, as both Cloud9 and Fnatic have dropped out of the event completely.
It's been confirmed on the official NGE event team list that Fnatic and Cloud9 will no longer be taking part. FaZe Clan and Citizen7 will take their place.
Whilst both FaZe Clan and Citizen7 have both shared their great news, surprisingly neither Fnatic nor Cloud9 have made any mention about their quiet drop out. Fnatic's insane performances in 2016 allowed them to get a direct invite to the tournament and Cloud9 were following closely behind.
Dropping out of an event this big is rare, but it does happen, usually when scheduling issues are involved. For example, official news on the OGN Apex Season 2 event is rumored to be hitting soon, and if the drop out from Fnatic and Cloud 9 is anything to go by, both teams may have chosen to attend the OGN event instead.
We think this is a great thing for the Overwatch scene - not

After going full-time Smash pro, the worst thing that could happen to a Smash player would be to have their finger or hand broken.
Unfortunately for Hungrybox, exactly that has happened. During a game of Dodgeball, Hungrybox ended up breaking his index finger, which might just be one of the most important fingers for playing games on a controller.
The injury was a fracture in the top knuckle of Hungrybox's index finger. With Genesis 4 just around the corner, it was first rumored that Hungrybox would not attend the event at all.
However, Hungrybox is going to soldier on - he will remap his controller so that use of his index finger is kept to an absolute minimum. As a result of this, Hungrybox may not be at top form, but we still feel he has a good chance at ranking high at Genesis 4.
It's frustrating to see such a thing happen, but we can't wait to see how Hungrybox performs despite his injury. Fortunately, the injury should heal within a few weeks, so he won't

The next COD World League is going to be absolutely huge.
The next big COD event to look out for is without a doubt going to be MLG Atlanta. To make the event even more enticing, MLG senior director Adam Apicella has recently announced that the event will include a massive $200,000 prize pool.
MLG Atlanta is exactly the kind of event the COD scene needs to help it grow. The event will feature over 176 teams from NA, EU & APAC - any team that wants to have the chance to participate in the event will need to register up for GameBattles Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, CWL Ladders & Online Tournaments - by winning tournaments teams will have the opportunity to win CWL pro points. Win enough, and your team will get themselves a ticket to the big event.
While some teams will receive invitations to the event, others may have to pay their way into the competition. Currently, team passes are going for $299.99 and will allow access to four players and 1 coach. If you're

ZeRo has been at the top of his game for far too long, and his top form has given him another win at the Smash 4 event at UGC Open.
Whilst ZeRo took the win, he didn't get away with the prize as easily as he had done earlier in the year. This is the fifth win ZeRo has had in a row now, but the close 3-2 victory at UGC almost threw ZeRo's chances of beating his 52 win streak down the drain.
If you've been following the Smash Open scene for a while now, 2016 has perhaps been the best chance competitors have had at beating ZeRo. This is especially true in Abadango's case, who fought against ZeRo in the UGC Open Smash 4 grand final.
Earlier in the tournament, ZeRo took a clean 3-0 win against Abadango, which pushed him straight into the loser's bracket. Abadango managed to closely fight his way back into the grand finals though, and the 3-2 defeat was the closest any player had come to taking a game win from ZeRo at the UGC Open.
Previously ZeRo managed to beat Mr.

Unsurprisingly, Armada and Hungrybox ended up finding themselves in a match up for the grand finale of Smash Melee Dreamhack Winter.
However, only one player could come out on top. Both Hungrybox and Armada were projected to do well in the event, but nobody expected Armada to be on such a hot streak. Earlier on in the tournament, Armada ripped through Leffen and Trifasia with quick 3-0 victories.
Hungrybox, on the other hand, managed to fight his way through Professor Pro and Mang0 in his first two matches. He did well, but he wasn't quite as much of a convincing winner as Armada was at this point.
After two straight wins, both Hungrybox and Armada found themselves in the winner's final. In this event, Armada's 3-0 victory streak was brought to an end by Hungrybox, but only just. Armada still managed to take a 3-1 victory in the winner's final, bringing him to the grand final with just a scratch.
Hungrybox took a pretty heavy knock to his confidence after his
