Industry News - Trading in Games Got Harder
With the age of DLC on every modern console threatening the used game dealers such as Gamestop, Game Crazy, and Play N Trade, the dealers will have to comply with a recent federal law. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decided that software publishers can stop buyers from reselling their software to others, which differs from rulings in which software can be sold again under a "first sale"Â doctrine.
According to Anthony Reese of the University of California-Irvine, the first sale doctrine is responsible for the bulk of public access via the existence of stores that sell used materials like books, records, and videos. He added in that this ruling can be used in other courts and impact their sight over other business types such as eBay and stores like Gamestop.
To put in an example, around thirty percent of Gamestop's profits are in used games. Add in the domino effect, Gamestop claims that it will impact their

Girl Gaming - Top choices of Rookie Female Gamers, part two!

Game Review - Costume Quest
Developer: Double Fine
Publisher: THQ
If you've got a digital sweet tooth for role-playing games, Tim Schafer has got you covered in time for Halloween. From the mind that brought us Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, and Day of the Tentacle, comes Tim Schafer's first foray into digital gaming, Costume Quest.
Although it's frustrating to see digital downloads go up in price. Costume Quest seems to be one title worth the fifteen dollar price tag. The look of the game is unique, and watching the costumes transform into their larger-then-life counterparts in battles is something that captures the imagination I felt as child every Halloween. I'm impressed,

Industry News - Redbox to be everywhere!
Redbox game rentals are going nationwide. As of now, the service is expanding to 24,000 Redbox kiosks, nicely located outside thousands of local grocery and convenience stores. Currently offering a wide variety of games at $2 per day, Redbox rents out titles for the DS, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. Redbox.com currently features a section where you can look up kiosks by zipcode and see which titles each specific one has as well, which definitely cuts down on drive time searching for any specific title.

Game Review - Halo:Reach
Bungie's last Halo is out, offering everything we've come to expect from a Halo game. Full-fledged multiplayer, added and upgraded game types, as well as a solid campaign. Bungie hasn't been sitting idle in a vacuum of their own ideas, they've obviously been taking notes to improve the game we love, , Halo, but is Halo: Reach the best?
While the conclusion of Halo: Reach is known before hand, it doesn't mean the game is incapable of packing a wallop. If you're familiar with the Halo universe then you should already know what happens on Reach, the humans fail to defend it. The Covenant's invasion of Reach is successful. The narrative backdrop keeps the game consuming, the future grim, and the battles constant.
Since the outcome is known, Bungie had to focus on the delivery and making it compelling despite that. In Halo: Reach you play as Nobel Six, the sixth member of Nobel Team, a group of Spartans that work in unison of a larger army. The

Gamer News - More Marvel vs. Capcom 3 characters revealed!
As if Capcom couldn't give us more of an excuse to get us fighting game fans to bulk up our fingers and prepare our Evil thumbsticks, just as of this past weekend, at Gamescom in Germany, it is revealed that both Viewtiful Joe (from Viewitful Joe) and Dormammu (the nemesis of Marvel's Dr. Strange) are going to be in the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. In addition, if you were to search back, the confirmation of Dormammu has significance in the leaked possibility of the Silver Surfer for Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Back around the end of July, in a Japanese video game magazine's interview with the producer of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Ryoto Niitsuma, the magazine accidentally revealed Dr. Doom (already confirmed a week or two ago), Dormammu (just confirmed now), and Silver Surfer. If Dr. Doom and Dormammu are already confirmed then most likely the Silver Surfer is probably now 95% confirmed. I left five percent, because the

Gamer News - Billy Mitchell to Continue being a Record Holding Champion
Billy Mitchell was the first world record holder in the game of Donkey Kong, achieving this feat back in 1982, officially recognized by Twin Galaxies (Videogame authority). Billy has been recognized as somewhat of a prophet when it comes to arcade gaming, being called the "greatest arcade "€œvideogame player of all time"Â. His score went untouched for years.
In 2007, "The King of Kong: a Fistful of Quarters"Â came out, chronicling the journey of Steve Wiebe, a Washington state teacher, and his attempt to dethrone the hot sauce king. As a documentary there is obviously some bias involved, but the filmmakers do Billy Mitchell justice, portraying him as an egocentric, and incredibly arrogant human being. He talks a big game, yet refuses to actually play.
Steve Wiebe went on to become the Donkey Kong record holder for both the live and recorded scores. On August 3, 2006, with a score of 1,049,100
