343 Industries may be cutting down on the amount of content being released for Halo 5: Guardians, but that doesn't mean new content isn't coming. In fact, a brand new content drop will be hitting in September. The release date for Halo 5's Anvil's Legacy DLC will be September 8 and it will see a number of new features, including new REQs, new weapons for Warzone and more.
Two brand new maps will also be coming to Halo 5 in Anvil's Legacy. The first of which will be a Warzone exclusive and the second will be a remake of Halo 4's Haven. The new Haven remake is called Mercy and it will be perfect for any close quarters game modes like Rumble Pit or team doubles.
Like previous updates, Anvil's Legacy will also be getting a number of new REQ items. Firstly, three new rare Warzone weapons have been added, including a powerful tactical magnum. There are a number of new common weapon drops added as well, along with some new armor items, new armor colors and a range of legendary weapon

After what felt like an unending schedule of free Halo 5 content, it's been announced that the monthly content drops for Halo 5: Guardians will now stop. Whilst this was the original plan announced by 343 Industries in the beginning, it's almost a shock to think that’s almost been a year since the game launched.
Since the release of Halo 5: Guardians, there have been eight big content drops, all of which added plenty of new cosmetics, new maps, new items and in some cases even new Warzone modes or AI enemies.
Now that the monthly content drops have stopped, 343 Industries want to make it clear that support for the game won't stop. In fact, some new content is still planned for the near future, even if it isn't going to be as substantial content releases. It's likely that the 343 team are now moving most of their resources to the next Halo title.
343 Industries recently mentioned that, "While you won't be seeing updates every month moving forward, nor updates the size

It's finally happened. Red Dead Redemption is now available on the Xbox One via the backwards compatibility program. If you own an Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption you'll now be able to play it on your Xbox One.
If you don't own it, you'll be able to purchase the Xbox 360 version digitally or alternatively you could pick up a cheap second hand physical copy online or at a local retailer. Surprisingly the Red Dead digital version is under $10 so either way you'll be able to get the game on your Xbox One for cheap.
Not only has Red Dead Redemption been added to the backwards compatibility version, but the previous DLC for the game has been released for free. Not all of the DLC content has been put up for free, but the vast majority of it has. This includes some single player content and all of the multiplayer content. The new free DLC includes the Legends and Killers Pack, the Myths and Mavericks Pack and the Liars and Cheats Pack. The Outlaws to the End co-op mission

In a recent update, a glitch was found in Halo 5: Guardians that allowed players to have a whole world of new fun with custom weapons in Forge.
The glitch in question essentially allows players to assign weapon effect, damage and fire rate to another weapon model by using the REQ pads. Not only did this glitch apply to Forge games, but the glitch carried out into custom games too.
As an example, a player could place down a weapon pad and set it so that it spawns a REQ weapon. A player could then edit the item properties to change the weapon model. The end result allowed players to have SMGs that fired sniper bullets, plasma pistols that fired spartan lasers and all sorts of other things. Plenty of crazy combinations are possible with this glitch, and like mentioned before, this glitch does allow players to set up some incredibly fun custom games.
Perhaps the most exciting bit of news to come from this all is that Tom French has confirmed that the glitch will be staying

A brand new update for Overwatch has been making ripples through the internet this week. The update, which has already seen a release on PC, has now made it's way to the Xbox One. So far the PlayStation 4 update has not been released but we expect to see it soon.
The biggest addition to the new Overwatch update for the Xbox One is competitive mode. Competitive mode is open to all players over level 25. If you're not level 25 yet, you'll need to reach that level before you can take part in the new game mode.
The new competitive mode will use a player skill rating, a new penalty system to punish quitters and rewards for winning games. Before a player is shown their skill rating they will need to take part in 10 qualifier games. Once the 10 games are finished, a skill rating will be assigned to your account.
The skill rating in Overwatch competitive ranges from 1 to 100. 1 is the absolute lowest rating, whilst 100 is the highest. Players will see their skill rating adjust

The Xbox One backwards compatible games list has been growing ever since the feature was added to the console late last year. This month, new games have been added to the list and the total amount of compatible games has now surpassed 200.
For those unaware, backwards compatibility refers to Xbox 360 games that are now supported on the Xbox One system. At the end of June Microsoft added the following games to their list.
Bloodforge - Bloodforge is a third-person hack n' slash style game developed by the Climax Studios and Microsoft Studios. The game was originally released as an Xbox Live Arcade title in 2012
Mars: War Logs - Mars: War Logs is a cyberpunk themed RPG game. The game was published by Focus Home Interactive. Originally Mars: War Logs was released in 2013.
Gripshift - GripShift was a stunt driving game that was developed by Sidhe Interactive and co-published by Red Mile Entertainment, Sony Online Entertainment and Ubisoft Entertainment

If you try to pair fighting games, Tekken and Street Fighter go quite well together, and this has lead to crossovers in the past. For Mortal Kombat, the best pairing would definitely have to be Killer Instinct. Both games offer a slightly more brutal approach to fighting, and according to Ed Boon, the idea of a Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat crossover would be a good idea.
On Twitter, Ed Boon mentioned 'I loves me some KI but a crossover would have to be Xbox exclusive.'
Funnily enough, Phil Spencer later tweeted in reply to state that he 'loves' the idea too. Well, right there we have the two men that could make a real crossover happen, and they both agree on the idea.
Whether or not this was a little marketing ploy by both Netherrealm and Xbox is hard to say, but we wouldn't be surprised if a Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat crossover title was now in the works. Because Killer Instinct is Xbox exclusive, the crossover would also have to be Xbox exclusive, which

It may sound odd, but the 343 Industries team are adding a new enemy to Halo 5 Warzone and it's called the 'Grunt Goblin'
The new Grunt Goblin will appear in games as either a Legendary or a Mythic boss. It's essentially a large covenant mech that seems to be the enemy equivalent to a Mantis. It's operated by a grunt and has a very, very large needler and a big fist that looks menacingly capable of smashing through pretty much anything.
Character designer Steve Dyck left a few statements about the new vehicle. "There are two variants of the Grunt Goblin with different capabilities. "Essentially, the backstory of this battle suit is it was built by Grunts for Grunts in what the Grunt designers agreed was the perfect embodiment of agility and lethality."
Senior systems designer Chris Proctor chipped in to say that, "Unlike other vehicles, the Grunt Goblin cannot be hijacked or boarded and has a complete immunity to EMP effects." This means plasma pistols aren't going

A brand new Xbox One update has launched and it brings a number of changes, some of which were seen in the Preview Program that received an update earlier in the month. The update coincides with a Windows 10 Xbox update, both of which have some interesting improvements.
Firstly, a change has been made to party chat - the limit for players in a chat is now 16. Previously the player count for a party chat was 12. Party Chat originally launched with just 8 player support and it has grown since, mostly because it has been one of the most popularly used features. Xbox One engineer Mike Ybarra says that 64 player party chat may one day be a possibility. We'd hope that with that, we'd have some sort of channel sorting system so that party chat could be used as a voice server like Teamspeak 3 - players would be able to join different channels to avoid overspeaking other players who may be playing a different game. On top of the increased player amount, Xbox One owners will now be able to

Big news today. After what felt like a good few years worth of hype and circulating rumors, Fable Legends has been cancelled. Yep, after gameplay demos and previews, the one game that seemed to offer something new to the Fable IP has been completely shut down. To make things worse, the whole of Lionhead Studios has also been closed down, which means they'll be no more Fable games or Black and White games in the future, at least not from the Lionhead guys anyway.
It's assumed that Microsoft will take on ownership of the IPs from Lionhead Studios - this would make sense considering that they are basically under Microsoft's wings at this point anyway.
Below, a statement from Microsoft has been posted.
"Today, I have some difficult changes to announce that affect some of our Microsoft Studios teams and projects in the UK and Denmark. After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure
