Dark Souls 2 info revealed

EDGE has dished out a huge amount of information on Dark Souls 2 after its surprising reveal at the VGAs.

Currently the game is around 25% complete, but there's still a lot of information to be picked up this early into development. Graphics-wise, Dark Souls 2 hopes to be as impressive as next-gen titles like Watch Dogs and Star Wars 1313. The game won't be in Lordran this time round, but instead in a new area, with a similar size to the first game, although the area will be a lot denser, with more areas of interest.

Next gen consoles are coming, there's no doubt about it. When though, is another question. The Wii U has managed to steal the show this year, similarly to the original Wii's release, but what we’re really waiting for is word of the big boys' new consoles. Nuketown Zombies Map Pack Available!

If you already own, or are considering purchasing the Black Ops 2 season pass, you may want to check out the bonus map Treyarch and Activision are giving with the pass.

Although most of Bethesda's attention right now is expected to be on Skyrim DLC, and fixing the issues for PS3 players, Bethesda have still managed to release extra content for their other games, and in this instance, Rage.

It's been a little over two years since Rage was released, so it is likely most players have finished the game and have possibly sold it by now, but to those who have held onto it since then, you may want to check out the new DLC released just this week.

Great graphics and high definition gameplay adds to immersion, and Crytek seem to think that this is a large selling point.

Crysis 2 was renowned to be one of the most graphically pleasing games in its time, and Crytek said Crysis 3 will be no different. In fact, Crytek have even gone so far to state that their new FPS will be more graphically impressive than any game released so far, and any other game releases for the next two years after that.

That's a big statement to make, but Cervat Yerli, chief executive of Crytek seems pretty confident with it.

New Halo 4 Map Pack:  Crimson Map Pack

A new bug following on from the release of 343's first purchasable DLC has made the Crimson map pack available to download for free across most of the globe.

Players started to report on the Halo Waypoint forums that they have been capable of downloading the Crimson map pack for free through an exploit found when trying to purchase the new map pack from within Halo 4.

Players were able to go into War Games and click to buy the new map for 0 Microsoft points.

Since then, players have shared and spread the exploit around, giving thousands of players the new content without paying.

After the launch of the Crimson map pack, players were reporting that they were capable of buying the map pack for free after following a simple bug within the Halo 4 title screen. Players were able to proceed to download the maps for 0 Microsoft points, causing heated discussions within the waypoint forums about the wasted use of the season pass, and an unfair advantage to those who could not get the bug to work.

Gears and Metal Gear at VGAs

Although there has been little information regarding new game releases at the VGAs, there were a few announcements, including some new trailers and information on Gears of War Judgement, and a possible new Metal Gear Solid game.

The new Gears of War judgement trailer showed at VGA doesn't really give us any further insight into the story that takes place before Gears of War 1, but instead shows us some fast-paced action scenes that we have expected from previous GoW games.

A little over ten years ago, Halo Combat Evolved landed on the Xbox 360 and helped define what we know as FPS shooters on the console today. The franchise had a very successful launch, and the popularity of the game only grew as more games were released.
