A Wiimote Explodes Due to Parents Putting Lithium Batteries instead of Regular Alkaline Ones
Just recently, a Belleville, Michigan family came home to find their room full of smoke. However, it wasn't a fire that created the smoke, it was one of their Wii remotes. How? Well it exploded. Luckily nobody was hurt since they were out of the house while it happened. The only damage was the shrapnel flying through the room and damaging a few parts of the house.
So how did the Wii-mote explode? Well the family didn't know that in the manual for the Wii, Nintendo advises for its users to not use lithium batteries. Unfortunately the family didn't know and had installed

A New Director and a New Script Welcome the Approval From the Fans of Naughty Dog's Flagship Uncharted Series.
The people have spoken and Sony and Columbia Pictures have listened! After announcement earlier this year that director, David O. Russell, was developing the script for the movie adaptation of the critically acclaimed, PS3 hit, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, blogs erupted with fan comments. Die-hard fans of this video game franchise all knew the potential of Nathan Drake’s character on the big screen, drawing strong comparisons to Indiana Jones and Lara Croft. After leaks of the direction Russell wanted to go with his Uncharted script, Nathan Drake fans and creators voiced their disproval,

Modern Warfare 3 Makes $1 Billion in Sixteen Days, Faster than Avatar
Thanks to some news from the site ComingSoon, Modern Warfare 3 made $1 billion within sixteen days of its release. When put in a side by side comparison with major Hollywood movies, it was faster than Avatar, which made $1 billion in seventeen days.
According to the article, with the popularity of video games on the rise and the slow decline of people going to the movies, this could be a probable factor of the game's financial success and recent feat.

Japan's Sales Charts Show That They Love Modern Warfare 3.
So according to some news from Joystiq, it seems that Japan really likes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on both consoles, they just like the PS3 version more. But that is expected if you have read my earlier blog posts about the relationship between the Xbox 360 and the land of the rising sun. Anyway, the numbers show that Activision's latest FPS title has topped the Japanese game sales charts at number one with over 180,000 units sold. As for the Xbox

Dark Orbit is Selling Overpriced Virtual Starships
So a while ago, Eve decided to start selling vanity items well...people didn't take much liking to it. And the reason is because most people think that shelling out nearly seventy dollars for virtual goods isn't such a grand idea. However this idea wasn't one of its kind,

Frank O'Connor of 343 States that a Silent Master Chief is Important for the Next Halo Title
Thanks to some news from Shacknews, 343 Industries' franchise directory Frank O'Connor said that he was surprised by how fans reacted to the absence of Master Chief in Halo: Reach (except for a quick easter egg/cameo) and stated that John (aka Master Chief) will be explored more deeply in the next title, Halo 4.
"I was a great proponent of the new Spartans for Reach...I thought that people would do what they did with the Master Chief and put themselves into the character's shoes, but people missed him."
Master Chief wouldn't

The World's Most Popular MMORPG Turns Seven.
You know, it's funny. These days when a developer makes a great game, things can change within a few months. Either it will be populating the used game section of your local Gamestop or Walmart has recently slash its price in half.
However for World of Warcraft (the probable reason that I have no social life) has just seven. You heard me, seven, which is the same age of the average Horde player. Actually, when you think about it, maybe seven is a bit too young to state the game's age. The reason why is because the game was announced back in 2001. Which

"I don't care that you help saved humanity from extinction, Mr. Fenix, it'll still be about two quid to Milton Keynes"
So in Milton Keynes, England a student had to pay a full bus fare for Marcus Fenix. I'm dead serious. Liam Sheridan, a huge Gears of War fan, was bringing home a life-size cardboard display of Marcus Fenix. Unfortunately when he reached the bus station (or coach station as our UK followers would say), Liam's montly bus pass wouldn't cover for his cardboard cutout as the

Around 53% of Battlefield 3's Players also Played Modern Warfare 3
According to an article on Kotaku, gaming research firm Raptr decided to track how many hours people spent both playing EA's Battlefield 3 and Activision's Modern Warfare 3. The reason for this study predicted that Modern Warfare 3 was going to outsell Battlefield 3. Thus, using a combination of data from 10-million gamer network plus the addition of a 6,000-person survey, the firm found that users

Battlefield 3 Players Using the Engineer Glitch Are Likely to be Banned ASAP
Swedish developer DICE tweeted last weekend that it has banned hundreds of offending accounts for cheating in Battlefield 3.
DICE wants to make sure that gamers all play by the rules and level up by grinding and gaining experience. The players of the accounts in question were apparently caught using a technique called boosting (which you can read about here on a previously written Evil blog entry). "Boosting" is where you and a cohort
