Hirai to favored be next CEO of Sony.
The man who basically made a internet meme of himself at E3 back in 2006(you don't remember? here's a hint: "Riiiiiiiiidge Raceeeeeeeeeeeer!"), Kaz Hiraiis likely to be the next in line for Sony CEO, replacing Ken Kutaragi. Seen here on this Joystiq article, it's being reported that a corporate realignment will have Mr. Hirai be named as an "executive deputy president". In addition to the realignment, he will be heading up Sony's consumer products

Could the Xbox 720 be on its way? (Note: Thats not the actual name, just a cheesy intro. Dont quote me.) But, apparently, recently a few job postings have been surfacing on LinkedIn looking to hire positions that would entail working on the architecture for the next-generation Xbox console.
Postings listed openings for a Graphics Architect position working with Xbox hardware, hoping for someone to lead a team that would be responsible for defining and delivering next generation console architectures from conception through implementation. Another position open is that of Senior Engineer, looking for someone to work on the development and verification of current and future Xbox platforms. A third posting announced an opening for a Senior Performance Architect who would be responsible for product definition throughout the entire process from beginning to end.

Is Gaming before Bedtime, bad for your Health?
Texting, watching television, and playing games before bed could be the main reason why nearly 63 percent of Americans aren't getting enough sleep these days according to the latest study fromfrom the National Sleep Foundation. They suggest to combat this problem is to have a curfew of around an hour before bedtime.

Homage to the old school video game code on Netflix for PS3
So in my household, we're finally getting into the whole Netflix thing. My parents are kinda addicted to it, and I'm sorta getting into it via my entire weekend viewing marathon of House, 24, and Gilmore Girls. While we are getting into the barebones of it, someone with a lot of time on their hands and a Playstation 3 at their disposal has figured out a code for their Netflix. Gamestop accused of taking personal information
As seen here about Gamestop, a California woman filed the suit on Wednesday of this past week, claiming that a Alameda County GameStop store recorded her personal information such as her name, her credit card information, and her PII (personal identification information) after purchasing items with her credit card. The woman, Melissa Arechiga, believes that GameStop uses the information like addresses and various other private pieces of information to benefit sales and future aspects of their store(s).

Weve all heard the warnings that parents give us in regards to playing video games, obesity, laziness, a drop in grades, violent and aggressive behavior. But now thanks to a 30-year-old man in China there is now one more reason to add to their list, a cause of death.

Civilization Music Composer awarded
Music's Highest Honor.It's a first in video game history, never in its history has any part of video game's music industry won a Grammy. Christopher Tin who done recent work for Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect, the Civilization series and various other video games, has beaten out other Grammy Nominees in the Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists category. Christopher won the award for his piece "Baba Yetu" which he wrote for Civilization IV back in 2005. Sure it was composed six years ago and is now later nominated and won for the 2011 Grammy's but hey, the video game

Game News - Guitar Hero is Cancelled by Activision
Seen here, it seems that from the reports from Activision is that the company has stopped all work on the Guitar Heroes series. According to the company is that due to continued declined interest in the music genre, Activision will dissolve any business relating to Guitar Hero and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game

10,000,000,000 App Downloaded!
As of now, ten billion apps have now been downloaded from Apples App store. After an ongoing countdown approaching the momentous number, Gail Davis of Oprington, Kent, UK, acquired the ten billionth download on Saturday morning (January 22). As a reward for her purchase of Paper Glider that day, Gail was awarded $10,000 in iTunes credit. (Makes me wish Id gotten that billionth download!!)
During the countdown, Apple released posts of its top paid and free apps. The top games sold were, unsurprisingly, Angry Birds and Flight Control. Also unsurprisingly, Facebook dominated as top unpaid application.
